  • Ayushmann Khurrana's son makes the cutest sketch of his father
    on November 13, 2019 at 2:00 pm

We just can't get enough of our very own Bala i.e. Ayushmann Khurrana. He has managed to woo the audience once more with an impeccable performance. But it's not just you and me who are clapping for him. His children back home are just as impressed! So much that they are ready to replace their father with Bala...LOL! It so happened that one of Ayushmann's kids drew their father, but it wasn't exactly how Ayushmann looks! Instead, he picked one of the film's posters wherein a bald Bala is seen watering his scalp, probably hoping for some hair to crop up magically. "About time you stay more in Mumbai," wrote Tahira Kashyap on her Instagram story while sharing the photo, adding that this was their younger child's 'recall value' of the father. We don't know if the kids have watched Bala....but they surely like their father's Bala avatar! The film is going great guns at the box office, and is expected to fare well for some more time now. The actor will be next seen in Shoojit Sircar's Gulabo Sitabo and Hitesh Kewalya's Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan.

  • Bala actor Yami Gautam says she does not mind having a bald partner in real life
    on November 13, 2019 at 11:23 am

The audience is showering all the love on Ayushmann Khurrana's Bala. A character that suffers from premature balding and therefore is a victim of societal pressure, has perfectly come alive, thanks to Ayushmann's performance. Complementing him throughout the film were co-stars Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam. While Bhumi played the actor's wife, Yami played a TikTok star whose on-screen husband is Ayushmann. In the film, she was heartbroken to find him to be a bald man, but in reality, Yami wouldn't mind being with one! "I feel bald men are really cool. They look really cool. The idea of the film is to tell people that they should love themselves first, and only then can you expect others to love you," she said while talking to the media after a special screening of Bala. She also said that the constant calls and messages, as well as the box office numbers, were all making her tremendously happy. "People are connecting with the film and are finding the film funny and entertaining. I played a very different role in the film for the first time. I am feeling really happy that I got the opportunity to play Pari who is a TikTok queen," Yami added.

  • "I was freezing in cold in the song sequence at Jaipur": Rani Mukerji recalls shooting for Mehndi
    on November 13, 2019 at 9:13 am

Rani Mukerji has shown us that she is a really committed actor as her body of work is amongst the best of the best actors of the country. Like all Bollywood actresses, she too rocked the saree in several song sequences that presented her in a glamourous avatar. However, in the 21st anniversary of one of her earliest films, Mehndi, she revealed that she froze to her wits end while shooting in close to zero-degree temperature. Rani reveals, “What I remember about Mehndi is shooting in Jaipur. I was shooting in and around the city and I think this was the first time ever I had visited Jaipur as a teenager. I was obviously bowled over with the beauty of Rajasthan the moment I saw the city. Jaipur is one just of the most exotic cities and I was loving every bit about this shoot sequence.” However, an actor’s life is not all that rosy. She adds, “I remember really freezing in the cold there. I was wearing a pink sari in one of the song sequences and I remember it was freezing at that point of time when we shot there. It was tough for me but I managed to pull through.” Rani cherishes the shooting schedule at Rajasthan. She says, “I also visited Ajmer Sharif for the first time, so it was a very memorable shoot for Mehndi. It felt amazing being there. Mehndi had this huge ensemble cast, so it was one of my first experiences with so many actors together shooting for a film. It was a learning experience for me.” Mehndi was directed by Hamid Ali Khan and Rani was appreciated for playing the role of a young bride who has to battle the culture of dowry.

  • Amazon Prime Music presents Guru Randhawa and Tulsi Kumar for a peppy Punjabi mix for T-Series MixTape Season 2
    on November 13, 2019 at 7:10 am

After a sizzling start to the new season by Neeti Mohan and Sukh-E, T-Series MixTape Punjabi Season 2, presented by Amazon Prime Music, brings another episode of electrifying music performances. This time, the momentum continues with Punjabi Pop star Guru Randhawa and Tulsi Kumar, as they come together in a unique mix of three popular tracks 'Enni Soni', 'Made in India' and 'Crazy Habibi'. While Guru Randhawa has been a part of Season 1, this episode marks the debut of Tulsi Kumar in MixTape Punjabi. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, this episode of MixTape Punjabi Season 2 is available first on Amazon Prime Music for Prime members to enjoy, giving listeners an ad-free, voice enabled listening experience. Sahas Malhotra, Director, Amazon Prime Music, said, “Amazon Prime Music’s collaboration with T-Series’ MixTape Punjabi Season 2 is the perfect stage for talented musicians to bring their best and delight their fans with the new season, available ad-free and exclusively, first on Prime Music. Besides the popular track 'Enni Soni' sung by this dynamic duo, Prime customers enjoy listening to 'High Rated Gabru' and 'Slowly Slowly' sung by Guru Randhawa, as well as 'O Saki Saki' and 'Tera Ban Jaunga' crooned by Tulsi Kumar, on the service.” The music for all episodes of T-Series MixTape Punjabi Season 2 has been produced by Abhijit Vaghani. The show has been directed by ace director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru. In this episode, as director Radhika says, Guru with his inimitable “swag” and Tulsi with her “miniature grace” will blow you away with their rendition of 'Enni Soni', 'Made in India' and 'Crazy Habibi'. Guru and Tulsi are seen sharing great chemistry as they take the live audience on a dancing journey with these groovy numbers. Says Radhika, “What was exciting is that Tulsi was doing the Punjabi MixTape for the first time and that too with Guru Randhawa, both of them fresh out of the success of 'Enni Soni' from Saaho. Their chemistry was really nice. Physically also they look superb together. He is tall. She is small and tiny. They were perfectly synced in, having worked together in the past. Musically also, they were nicely synced.” For the first time, Guru’s fans will get to see him holding another singer’s hand while singing. Vinay Sapru adds, “Having worked with practically every singing superstar of this country, we were super excited to work with Guru. We have got a very special kind of light and sound arrangement, keeping with Guru’s super stardom. He has got that velvet voice, he’s someone who sings dance tracks but they are like romantic dance tracks. It stirs that one thing in the heart. The colours that have been selected for his song and the light transitions from one particular formation to another formation has been kept in sync with the soft, romantic sound of his voice. The best part is when Guru holds Tulsi’s hand and sings. That’s the moment for the video because Guru has never performed like that.” On his part Guru Randhawa said, “For this episode, we are doing a mix of 'Enni Soni' and 'Crazy Habibi' and 'Made In India'. Our film version of 'Enni Soni' with Tulsi Kumar received so much love, I was excited to rework it in a new way with 'Crazy Habibi' and 'Made in India'. It was great to shoot and the best part is you to get to collaborate with such talented musicians. A big thanks to the T-Series team and  Abhijit Vaghani who have done a great job of blending these songs effortlessly.” Tulsi Kumar said, “MixTape is a great concept of mixing two tracks together, whether you have sung it or whether some other artists have sung it. You get an opportunity to be part of new songs that you have not been part of originally. The concept of MixTape is you get to hear the same tracks very differently and a huge credit goes to the musicians who add in their innovative parts and make it sound so fresh and new. The entire season of MixTape Punjabi  has been put together by Abhijit Vaghani. He's given a different vibe to every MixTape with his music arrangements.”   About working with Guru on MixTape, Tulsi adds, “I had a great time performing on the sets of Mixtape Punjabi with Guru Randhawa for this particular track. Guru and I already have a rapport so the chemistry came out naturally.” The second episode of T-Series MixTape Punjabi Season 2, featuring Guru Randhawa and Tulsi Kumar releases today on T-series YouTube channel and the audio will be available first on Amazon Prime Music.

  • After the Jabariya Jodi fiasco, Sidharth Malhotra has a potential hit in Marjaavaan
    on November 13, 2019 at 6:04 am

This is not an easy time for Sidharth Malhotra. Heart-throb of the Instagram generation, he may still be, but after the resounding failure of five films in a row Baar Baar Dekho, A Gentleman, Ittefaq, Aiyyari, Jabariya  Jodi, one a bigger flop than the other, Sidharth Malhotra seems all set for a turn-around in his career with Marjaavan which releases this Friday. The Milap Zaveri-directed film features Malhotra on a vendetta spree against Riteish Deshmukh who plays a midget. Deshmukh is the first pint-sized villain of Hindi cinema, and pre-release reports suggest he has completely stolen the show with his miniaturized vile act. However, Sidharth Malhotra need not worry. Even if Deshmukh is the scene-stealer in Marjaavaan, Malhotra’s role and performance has enough meat and bite to put him back on the map once again. A sequel to Marjaavaan is already being planned where Malhotra’s role would be further developed. • The 10 off-screen roles of Ajay Devgn
    on November 13, 2019 at 3:30 am

With the forthcoming Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Ajay Devgn hits a hundred films— as actor. Since the film will release early next year, he will have completed over 28 years, that too as one of the evergreen five superstars ( we all know the other four) who have reigned in Hindi cinema for over 25 years. Ajay was as unlikely a star material as Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha were in their times. The classic looks of a hero were missing, but in the process of finding his feet, Ajay explored both the actor and star within him. Like so many others, in his earliest films, he was branded as an action hero, the new angry but young Bachchan on the block, but he quickly decided to expand his horizons while keeping his box-office image intact.  Ishq, Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, Zakham, The Legend Of Bhagat Singh, Deewangee, Bhoot, Masti, Raincoat, the Golmaal franchise (the first comic series to touch four films), Toonpur Ka Superrhero, Bol Bachchan, Drishyam and De De Pyaar De remain among his diverse unusual choices, and star-actor Devgn mostly dazzled in all of them. Ajay has just confirmed the role of the legendary Tansen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra, is doing the patriotic war drama Bhuj: The Pride Of India, acting in the period thriller RRR (the first superstar from Mumbai to star in a S.S. Rajamouli film) and sports biopic Maidaan besides the modern interpretation of the ancient titanic strategist Chanakya in Neeraj Pandey’s film of that name. Of course, he also reprises his own iconic role of Bajirao Singham in a cameo in Sooryavanshi. And there is Anees Bazmee, contemplating Deewangee 2, in which ‘villain’ Ajay Devgn will be infinitely more menacing. After winning multiple glories, starting with the two National awards for Zakham (1998) and The Legend Of Bhagat Singh (2002) and other trophies for categories as varied as Best Male Debut, Best Actor, Best Actor in a Negative Role, Best Actor in Comedy/Romance and even nominations for Best Supporting Actor, Ajay has little to prove— on screen! But the 100 film-old actor also keeps playing diverse roles behind the screen. So let us look at the 10 areas in which he may not have scored a hundred, but show his total involvement in cinema, to a higher and more assorted degree than his contemporaries and seniors.  1 Singer: Ajay Devgn first went behind the mike in Diljale (1996) for Anu Malik in the song ‘Shaam Hai Dhuan Dhuan’. Then came Mehbooba (2008)’s ‘Babuji Bahut Dukhta Hai’. However, both were essentially voice-overs, but the first time he went full-fledged into singing was in the title-song for Himesh Reshammiya in his co-production Bol Bachchan (2012), in which he sang the title-track with Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan! We heard his voice again in Toonpur Ka Superrhero and Son Of Sardaar. 2 Producer: Though he had unofficially been part-producer  of Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, and his family had officially made Hindustan Ki Kasam and Dil Kya Kare, Ajay turned producer officially with Raju Chacha in 2000. The experimental film collapsed, and it took him a while to go into that domain again, which he did in 2008 with U Me Aur Hum, another flop. His first success as a producer was the comic riot All The Best (2009), after which he also co-produced (as most big stars do today) his films Bol Bachchan, Son Of Sardaar, Singham Returns, Shivaay, Helicopter Eela and Total Dhamaal. Ajay also bankrolled the offbeat festival film Parched in 2015. 3 Producer – Television: Along with Misha Gautam, he produced the television series Devi featuring Madhoo (his first heroine) and Sakshi Tanwar. The series ran from 2002 to 2004. 4 Camera Operator: Though not billed within the film, buzz is that Ajay was the assistant camera operator for some of the action sequences in the 2003 Zameen. This is indeed an interesting tangent on his background—as the son of stunt coordinator Veeru Devgan! Later, he was said to have conceived the action sequences of Shivaay as well! 5 Narrator: Like the Bachchans, Ajay’s deep voice was his special asset, and he first became the narrator for Awakening (2006), a three-minute film on environmental consciousness, in which he also acted. After this, he was also the narrator in Yamla Pagla Deewana and Poster Boyz. 6 Editor: Though the three minute short does not credit him, it is said that he even tried his hand at editing Awakening! 7 Director: In 2008, Ajay ventured into direction with the medical drama U Me Aur Hum on Alzheimer’s disease. His next film as director was Shivaay, which did over a 100 crore business in India. 8 Story Writer: Th story of U Me Aur Hum was written by Ajay himself. 9 Producer—Marathi films: This is his special achievement in going beyond the realm of Hindi cinema. He first produced the successful Marathi film Vitti Dandu featuring Dilip Prabhavalkar in 2014, on what happened to a family days before Indian Independence. Last year, Ajay also produced the Nana Patekar film Aapla Manus, a thriller of sorts, which won acclaim both from the critics and the audience. 10 Visual Effects: In October 2015, Ajay began a visual effects company, NY Vfxwaala, named after his kids Nysa and Yug. his children. Among the prestige films it handled are Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Bajirao Mastani, the South’s Mersal, Dilwale, Simmba and Total Dhamaal besides Ajay’s own Shivaay for which it won the National award. As he puts it, “My name is in the Limca Book of Records for doing the first Computer Graphics in my country—for the title-track of Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha. I shot a part of the song with 123 layers. Gully Boy was certainly one of Ranveer Singh's best performances ever. But it also discovered Siddhant Chaturvedi, the beginner who grabbed all eyes with his very first film. Both Ranveer and Siddhant, who played street rappers from Mumbai, assimilated the essence of their respective characters perfectly and as a result, put up a fantastic show. But it is probably true that actors indeed start living the intense characters that they play. In a recent interview, Siddhant opened up on having 'emotionally made out' with Ranveer. You read that right! He revealed that he received hugs and kisses from Ranveer, that too while at a suburban multiplex in Mumbai! He also stated that he once was in tears while Ranveer hugged him. We are sure it was all an expression of happiness! The film, directed by Zoya Akhtar and also starring Alia Bhatt, earned appreciations abroad as well, and became India's official entry to 2020 OSCAR! Siddhant has quite naturally struck the attention of directors now. We hear Excel Entertainment has signed him for a horror comedy alongside Katrina Kaif and Ishaan Khatter! Ranveer, on the other hand, now awaits the release of sports drama '83.
